Wellness and Menopause Through Orofacial Health

Qualifications:
BApplHSc(Oral Health) | Oral Health Therapist | Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist | Fellowship in the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics

After obtaining further studies in orofacial myology, Cheree has expanded her education to include psychoneuroimmunology-based relaxation therapy from the University of Sydney, among other courses in sleep, Buteyko breathing and craniosacral therapy.

Cheree’s personal experiences with mouth breathing, jaw pain, and headaches, along with observing her own children develop poor myofunctional habits, inspired her to specialise in orofacial myology. In 2014, she founded Smile Tone, a private clinic dedicated to orofacial myofunctional therapy, which has since grown to include five other therapists.

Beyond her clinical practice, Cheree is also an educator and inventor. She co-founded the Centre of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, where she conducts workshops for health professionals, educating them on the connections between facial, oral, and nasal functions (especially the tongue), and their impact on overall health. Additionally, she co-invented the MyoMate, an orofacial measuring device distributed worldwide.

Cheree regularly collaborates with health professionals from various disciplines to improve patient outcomes, contributing to the development of a unique protocol for the lingual frenectomy process. She also co-founded Face Fit, an online orofacial myofunctional therapy program aimed at improving facial aesthetics and orofacial health, making these therapies accessible to a broader audience.

Cheree believes that prevention and early intervention are crucial for maintaining good orofacial health, starting as early as pre-conception. She has assisted many women in perimenopause and menopause in managing orofacial pain and improving sleep quality, emphasising the significant role of the tongue and its connections.
