About Claire
With over 30 years experience as a specialist cancer nurse, Claire is a distinguished leader dedicated to supporting women through complex health transitions. Claire has had the privilege of a deeply rewarding career working from the bedside to the boardroom in a range of countries including the UK, Australia, Pakistan, and Syria. During her time working in England, she was featured in the ‘UK’s Top 10 Cancer Nurses’ by the Royal College of Nursing and has unparalleled expertise and credibility in delivering cancer and palliative care and person focused support to many hundreds of clients and their families.

For the past decade, Claire has passionately focused on addressing the health and wellness needs of women navigating the challenges of menopause. Her journey into this field was motivated by a personal experience after her own surgical menopause in her mid-40s and navigating her way through a host of subsequent health challenges. Claire’s own menopause experience inspired her to shift her focus to address the significant gap in support for women facing this transition—especially those who were concurrently dealing with cancer.

Claire uniquely combines her skills as an Accredited (HCANZA) Health and Wellness Coach and a seasoned clinical nurse consultant through her business, Healthy in the Middle.’ Through both individual, group and community programs she empowers women to decode the complexities of menopause, supporting them to create a personalised blueprint for sustainable lifestyle practices that mitigate chronic disease and enhance overall health.

Her extensive experience is complemented by a wealth of qualifications, including a Masters in Public Health, certification as a Menopause & Fitness Practitioner, and numerous published research studies. Claire draws on her clinical, research, and educational backgrounds to employ a diverse range of strategies that maximise the health and wellbeing of her clients as they navigate various health transitions.

As a recognised expert in her field, Claire frequently appears as a guest on podcasts and ABC Radio discussing both menopause and cancer. She is passionate about helping women navigate their way through health diagnoses, complexities and transitions to find a deeper sense of health and wellbeing. Menopause is a natural transition, but many health events are chronic and some are sadly terminal, with this in mind Claire works on the premise that ‘health is an outfit that looks different on each of us’.

In addition to her coaching practice, Claire serves as the Director for the Queensland Advanced Breast Cancer Group and develops content for Wellness Coaching Australia (WCA), where she authored the cancer program and menopause physiology content. She loves delivering workplace education and support through her business ‘Healthy in the Middle and consults with Sage Women's Health and other partners to provide meaningful and relevant education on Women's Health and Menopause to corporate and community clients.

Claire recently launched the Cancer Wellness Coach’ initiative, an innovative model of holistic, evidence-based health and wellness coaching, designed to deliver optimal care to those living with and beyond cancer. She is also a trained Dignity Therapist— a role she considers to be the most privileged work in the world—and has published a research study exploring the feasibility of this valued work.
